First, the venue
Three venues, three different maps
Barcelona’s fairs and congresses happen at three main venues, and they are far enough from each other that a hotel that is perfect for one can be a long ride from another. Fira Gran Via (L’Hospitalet de Llobregat) hosts the biggest events. Fira Montjuïc, by Plaça d’Espanya, hosts the smaller specialised ones. The CCIB, at Diagonal Mar on the north-east seafront, hosts congresses, mainly medical and scientific ones. Confirm the venue on the organiser’s website before you book a room.
Prices and availability change a lot in fair weeks: the largest events fill the city’s hotels months ahead. We do not recommend or compare individual hotels, and we are not linked to any of them; what we can tell you is how long the daily trip takes from each area.
Four areas
Where to stay and how long the trip takes
L’Hospitalet and the Gran Via area
The closest to Fira Gran Via, often a few minutes by car. Less to do in the evening, and fewer choices for dinner than in the centre. Sensible if the fair is your only reason to be in Barcelona and you start early.
Plaça d’Espanya and Sants
Good for both Fira Gran Via (about 15 minutes) and Fira Montjuïc (a walk or a short ride). Well connected by train and metro, and Sants station is useful if you arrive by high-speed train.
Eixample and Plaça de Catalunya
The most popular choice for visitors: plenty of restaurants and shops. Allow 20 to 30 minutes to Gran Via and a shorter ride to Montjuïc; at peak times, more.
Diagonal Mar and the seafront
The natural choice for the CCIB, next to the venue. It is the furthest from Fira Gran Via, so it is a good option only if your event is at the CCIB.
The daily trip
How to organise it once you have booked
If you travel alone, the metro or a single private transfer is usually all you need; see from the city centre or Sants to Fira for a comparison. If your team or group stays in two or three hotels, a daily shuttle timed around opening and closing saves everybody the morning scramble: we explain it in hotel to Fira shuttles.
From the airport, the easiest way is to book your arrival directly to the venue or to your hotel: see airport to Fira Gran Via, airport to Fira Montjuïc and the CCIB.
Before you travel
A short checklist
- Confirm the venue and the opening hours on the official event website.
- Book your room as early as possible; fair-week rates and availability change quickly.
- Compare the journey from the area, not only the distance on the map.
- If you will be in several hotels, send us the list and we prepare one quote.
- Keep your flight number handy: we follow it and wait up to 60 minutes free at the airport.

Frequently asked questions
Which area is best for Fira Gran Via?
The closest are L’Hospitalet and the Gran Via area. Plaça d’Espanya and Sants are a good compromise if you want more choice for dinner and good connections.
Is it better to stay near Fira Montjuïc or in the city centre?
Montjuïc is close to the centre, so the Eixample and Plaça de Catalunya areas work well for events there. Plaça d’Espanya is the most convenient.
Do you recommend a hotel?
No. We do not work with or recommend specific hotels. We tell you the areas and journey times, and we pick you up at the hotel you choose.
Can you pick up several people from different hotels?
Yes. Send us the hotels, the venue and the times, and we prepare a written quote with all the runs.
How long does the driver wait at the hotel?
15 minutes free at hotels and other addresses, 30 minutes at Sants station and 60 minutes at the airport from the actual landing time.
